Memberships

Membership is FREE to join. You can be a FULL member OR a PARTNER member.

FULL MEMBER

  • Third sector organisations that are permanently based in north Edinburgh and have considerable not for profit activity that delivers direct benefit to people living in north Edinburgh.

    Can nominate people to the development group.  Are able to take part in all R2 activities.

PARTNER MEMBER

  • Public or private sector organisations or third sector organisations not based in the area, but with considerable activity that benefits residents in north Edinburgh. 

     

    Are able to take part in all R2 activities at the invitation of R2 other than nominating people to the development group.

Membership Form

We strongly encourage at least one person in your organisation to sign up to and use Community Lab.  This allows members to communicate directly with each other and the group without sharing contact details.

R2 Membership Terms & Conditions

1. Membership Categories

• Full Members: Organisations based in North Edinburgh with significant activity that directly benefits local communities. Full Members may participate in decision-making, nominate representatives to the Development Group, and initiate or lead sub-groups.

• Partner Members: Organisations outside North Edinburgh (e.g., statutory bodies, citywide/national organisations, private companies, elected members) that support R2’s aims. Partner Members may attend meetings and sub-groups by invitation and are expected to contribute positively to R2’s activities.

2. Membership Commitments

By applying for membership, organisations agree to:

• Uphold R2’s vision, mission, and values.

• Participate in meetings, working groups, and activities where possible.

• Share knowledge, expertise, and community insights.

• Respect the voices of local communities and fellow members.

• Collaborate with honesty, openness, and respect.

• Promote R2 and any agreed collective positions.

• Contribute to building long-term relationships and community wealth.

3. Member Benefits

Members will:

• Receive regular updates on R2 activities, funding opportunities, consultations, and developments.

• Gain opportunities to influence local and national policy.

• Build connections and partnerships with other organisations.

• Access skills development and shared learning opportunities.

• Have their communities’ needs heard and represented.

4. Approval Process

• All membership applications are reviewed by the R2 Development Group.

• The Development Group will assess applications against the membership criteria (location, activity, alignment with R2’s aims).

• Applicants may be contacted for clarification or additional information.

• Decisions will be communicated via email.

• Full Members are expected to attend at least two members’ meetings per year.

• Partner Members are expected to respond positively to invitations and requests for support.

5. Termination of Membership

Membership may be withdrawn if:

• An organisation consistently fails to uphold R2’s values or expectations.

• An organisation does not participate in any activities for a prolonged period without explanation.

• The Development Group determines that continued membership is not in the best interests of R2.

6. Data & Communication

• Members consent to R2 holding their contact details for communication purposes.

• Members may opt in/out of updates and working group emails.

7. Amendments

R2 reserves the right to amend these Terms & Conditions to reflect changes in the network’s priorities, governance, or external environment. Members will be notified of any significant changes.
